My great weekend!!

Happy Sunday!!  My sweet boy has been learning sign language so quickly lately! I love being able to teach him and see him get excited when he remembers the sign!  I love this kid and love being his mom!!

My wonderful supportive husband and I at the Roadshow in Dallas!  We had a blast and we loved worshipping the Lord with other followers of Christ!  I am a blessed woman!

Look who came to visit in my room for a while. The kids are in love!! 

Pride Wall

I have been meaning to post a picture of our "Pride Wall" before and after. I love putting up the kids work but sometimes to just takes more time than I have in a day. The pride wall fixes that problem!

This is before school started. I ended up stapling a laminated paper on the board and put a clothes pin on the top. I also hot glued cute little stars on the top of the clothes pin. Quick tip: I wrote their names in permanent marker on the corner so there was no question whose paper it is. 

The final picture is of how it looks now, a semester in. The kids put their work on there clip. That choose things that they are proud of. I guess I could have called it our show off wall. I feel everyone should get to be proud of their work. You can see that most of the papers are different.

Testing....

Testing all week as benchmarks and STAAR prep tests...long, boring and now over! Thank goodness. I asked the kiddos what character they wanted for our testing sign. It was unanimous!  Duck Dynasty it is!  I love these kids!

I have a book hoarding problem!

Jordan told me he was tired of looking at boxes of books in garage. I decided to go through the books and see what I could give to my sister in law who is in her residency of student teaching. I was able to give away one box of books and I still kept 3 boxes.  Is there a rehab facility for me and my book hoarding issues?  Hahah

Mr. Popper's Penguins

Our Mr. Popper's Penguins Project!

They had a procedural text in step form.  They then had to make a procedural text with key words like: First, Next, Then, After that, Finally.  It went great.  You can see some of the students did not follow the directions exactly and they had to check their rubric for their grade.

Lesson Planning

I have to say I am pretty excited about my lessons for next week.  I get to really dive into the multiplication games.  I decided we are going to read Mr. Popper's Penguins for three weeks.  I was looking on Pinterest and I found a cute way to make a penguin with a cup and construction paper.  They are then going to be able to take their penguin with them whenever they read the book.  I feel like if I can hook them in at the beginning, I can show them how much fun it is to read any kind of book.  I also made a cute KWL chart. I went onto Office Max I was able to order an 18 x 24 for only 2 dollars! Wohoo!

New Year Already???

How is it already a new year??  I feel like it has been going by so quickly.  The Elder house has been very busy lately.  We have been able to hang out with family and friends.  That is never a bad thing!!

My family came in from Missouri for my nephew's baptism.  Aunt Shannon ended up spending some quality time with Lukey.

 

Disclaimer- My husband did not pose for the picture, he would be so mad I even put this picture of him up here.  I caught him watching the football game and this was how he was standing.  I have one hott husband!
